Monica and Cindy
In the late 1990's I remember the disgust and outrage at Bill Clinton's affair with a chunky young lass named Monica. I can remember wild-eyed evangelicals screaming out that any man who cheats on his wife has no character and does not deserve to be in the oval office. The hysterics over Slick Willies affair were seen as proof that he was nothing more than a lying scuzzbucket. Pastors across the land cited Clintons indiscretions as further proof that America was dangerously close to losing it's moral compass. Best selling books were written asking the question, where is the outrage?
Imagine if the "family values" Republicans nominated a man who as a married United States Senator (age 46) cheated on his wife with a fetching young woman who was only 23 years old. I know, I know, try not to spit out your cheerios. The Republican party is the party of VALUES. They are the traditional party that represents integrity and honest family values. Why would they ever nominated a man who cheated on his wife with a 23 year-old hottie? Because surely if they did, the same people who were so OUTRAGED at the Monica affair would not stand for such a man who does not honer his marriage vows.
So, once again, I am asking you dear reader, what is the difference between what McCain did and what Clinton did? I am just talking about the affair so save the P.O.W. arguments we all know and respect what he did in the military. If you were whipped up into a frenzy over Monica why are you not questioning McCains integrity and family values? Is it possible that someone, maybe an obese talk show host, was pulling the strings on your emotions?
P.S. Still waiting for anyone to tell me how Obama's pastor is going to influence his policy positions.
P.S.S. The October surprise will be McCains first wife having a cozy little chat with Oprah explaining how her husband left her when she was in her mid-40's and ballooned up to over two bills. And by the way, the women he left me for was 23! Just lost the overweight middle age housewife vote (whoops)!

You always find the clever comparison in politics. Great blog! love ya, Denise
"If you knew that John McCain had fathered a black baby out of wedlock, would that make you more or less likely to vote for him?"
