That damn liberal media and all those facts make my head hurt

Hey folks, it is over! Call me in three weeks because I am taking a victory lap around the country. Republicans are turning on each other quicker than Sammy the Bull turned on John Gotti. Today Matthew Dowd, Republican strategist who was in charge of W's relection, (Susan cover your eyes) came out and said "palin is unqualified." He went on to call McCain's pick a "gimmick" and said that Palin "is a net negative" to the ticket. When a Republican pointed out that Palin seemed to energize the base he said, "it is like Halloween candy, you get a sugar rush but you feel awful the next day." Looks like someone has been reading my blog! I just wonder, at what point do you admit that McCain has put a fundamentally unqualified person on his ticket in order to appeal to the evangelical base? How much more evidence from Republicans do you need? How many traitors, like Bill Kristol, does the Republican party have left? Governor Palin did not even apply for a passport until last year! My former English teacher, the memorable Al Borne, used to tell us that the problem with stupidity in American could be attributed to "a lack of curiosity." Palin has a very serious lack of curiosity about the world. I also have a few facts for those of you who apparently have no standard for what makes a bad President. (cuz i voted for him and he must be good!)

When Bush leaves office this is his legacy:

1. The largest federal deficit in American history
2. The longest war in American history
3. The costliest war in American history
4. The worst economy since Hoover (29-33) and the Great Depression
5. The greatest failure of banks, financial institutions, mortgage companies, accounting firms, energy firms and insurance companies since the Great Depression
6. The failure to catch the greatest terrorist of the 21st century for over seven years
7. Invading a country because they had weapons of mass destruction and a failure to find any evidence of weapons of mass destruction
8. Having your V.P. assure the American people that "we would be greeted as liberators" as we now enter year five of a civil war
9. Firing your Defense Secretary in the middle of two wars
10. Hurricane Katrina (Brownie, you're doing a heck of job)

I ask you, in all seriousness, what would Bush have to do for you to consider him to be a bad president? What standard do you have for a bad president? Or is it possible that your ego will not allow you to admit that you made a mistake? I made a mistake, twice!

BTW I had a very interesting conversation with Britt last night. He was way more conservative than I was,(he voted for Bush twice) and he to is voting for Obama. (because he is smart) He put this thought in my mind last night: Here is part of our conversation:

"Riles, just think of all the great Presidents we have had. You know, Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Wilson, Kennedy, Reagan, could you see Palin next to this list?"
We laughed so hard I was crying at the very thought of it!

This may be a 3 part post, we will have to wait and see.

First off your comment about the race being over reminded me of a great song by Kenny Rogers. That song being the Gambler. I couldn't help but think of the following lyrics (changed a bit) when I read your comment.

Here they are:

You gotta know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away and know when to run
You never call the election when there's 3 weeks left to goin', there'll be time enough for gloatin' when the race is won.

The polls are driven by the liberal MSM's in this country to try and get people to think the race is over. It's natural to want to believe them if your candidate of choice is ahead.

I am going to try and stick to the issues that have been brought up in your latest blog. So here goes.

With regard to Matthew Dowd slamming McCains pick of Palin as being a "gimmick". Everyone has a right to say what that feel. Much like Joe Biden said, before Obama picked him to be his V.P. Biden sighted Obamas "lack of experience" in being ready to be President. And also called him a "clean black candidate". As of late he blasted him for the t.v. ad Obama ran about McCain not being able to use
a computer as being "nasty". I think everyone knows that McCain cannot use the computer because of the many times his arms were broken when he was a POW. Point I am trying to make is that I would rather have a former speech writer blast me than my own running mate. As a side note you might think that the Conservative are bailing on Palin however on the other side the people who were supporting Hillary have raised over 10 million dollars for McCain/Palin. Both sides are doing it. BTW the majority of Hillary supporters are crossing over because of Palin.

You state that you feel that Palin is unqualified and has no experience in the arena. Let me share with you the so called inexperience Palin has. As Gov. of Alaska she shares strategic command of the Missle Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard. The guard unit is on permanent active duty unlike other guard units. Alaska is the first line of defense in our interception missle defense program. They protect our entire nation from ballistic missle attacks. Again, Palin shares strategic command of this Defense Battalion. She is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security and counterterroism. She is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire countrys defense. With the close proximty of Russia she probably has clearances that we dont' even know about. Pretty high level stuff if you ask me. This along with having the highest rating of any Governor in the U.S. tells me Palin is doing something right in Alaska. Perhaps her folksy way is unappealing to some but to alot of us it is refreshing. To hear a candidate with passion, honesty, integrity, love for her country and willingness to serve and make an even better America is what makes her so appealing. And the last time I looked the people and organizations that she hangs around with didn't have last names of Wright (God Damn America) Rezko (soon to be sentenced to prison for fraud, bribery and money laundering), Acorn (convicted of voter fraud and corruption and now under investigation in 18 states for voter fraud in registering people), Ayers (unrependant terrorist who recently gave $800,000 to Acorn to help register ineligible voters).

When you were talking about Bush and his record I would like to clarify a few things. First of all the Vietnam war was the longest to date. It lasted from 1965 to 1975. I don't know when you mentioned that the Iraq war has been the most costly if you were talking about lives lost, money spent or both. I think we all know that World War Two dealt this country the most loss of life with close to 450,000 U.S. soldiers dead. I am quite sure the current conflict has been the most expensive war. Why wouldn't it. What we fight wars with now compared to in the past are a heck of alot different then what we have used in previous wars. The price tag of everything has gone up.
The current financial "sell out" I will be more than happy to discuss at a later time. I am not ducking the subject as I have alot to say on the matter. Bushs failure to catch Osama. Tough to catch a dead man. Invading Iraq because of WMD's that NOT only Bush was told Iraq had but the House and Senate did too. AND they approved going in as well. I, to this day believe when you give Iraq 1 year to move their WMD's around to surrounding terrorist states why would one be surprised that they were not there!! Cheney saying we would be great liberator's. Well we have been. Just ask the boots on the ground and other's that have been in Iraq off and on since the conflict began. In fact if you would like you can to www.ocregister.com and read Dillows(a reporter for the Register) on his many trips to Iraq and the amazing progress that has been made. Firing of Rumsfeld. Pure pressure for the left and sadly the right as well. Bush caved. Hurrican Katrina. Enough blame to go around on that one. Including the major of New Orleans leaving the buses in the yard when they could have tranported thousands of people. Lessons learned on Katrina is evident by the great work that has and is being done on the catastrophic hurricanes we have had this season.

I voted for W. 2 times and very proud both votes. If he were able to run again I would vote for him. My only disappointment is he failed on Immigration. I didn't and do not agree with his policy. I know you are having to pick yourself up off the floor that I actually disagree with Bush on something. However there are many, many reasons I would vote for W. again. The main reason is United States 7, Terrorist O!!

You mentioned that Britt has always voted for a Republican President but he is voting for Obama because "he is smart". Well call me "stupid" but when I get in the booth my lever will punch McCain/Palin. love ya, Susan

P.S. You may want to start holding on to your wallet if your man is elected. Just the other day Obama told a plumber that he needs to tax the people and the business owner's that are making over $250,000 to "spread the wealth". He intends to take money out of hard working people and business owner's and give it to people who believe they are entitled to it. Well, my friend that's called Socialism in some countries and Communism in other's!!

Well it looks like my comments made it on one page. I wasn't sure if it would have to be split up. Therefore the reason for the 3 part comment at the beginning.

Susan-
Thank you very much for your response to this blog. I have a few points I would like to clarify:
1. Biden was running AGAINST Obama in a primary campaign. It is understandable that they would go at each other, as Bush and McCain did in 2000. It is amazing that some many REPUBLICANS who are not competing against anyone are coming out against Palin.
2. If the polls are driven by the liberl media than why not have a conservative polling group to fill this void?
3. Palin is the first line of defense in Alaska? This one is laughable...the Air Force is run by the Federal Government, not the governor of Alaska
4. I assume you are also upset about the fact that a BIPARTISAN committee found Palin guilty of abusing her power. BTW what has Obama been found guilty of? Nothing, but his pastor said bad things about America!
5. I am glad that you think Palin is a good governor because she is so popular, by this logic Clinton is the best President because he was the most popular! Glad you support Clinton.
6. Acorn is a non-issue. The fraud was registering fake people like the Dallas Cowboys. Susan, fake people can't show up to vote. It is not voter fraud, but voter registration fraud committed by people who are paid to register voters. I am glad that you brought up ACORN because McCain hired them last year as well as spoke at their convention. Bet you didn't hear that on Fox News!
7. Vietnam war ended in 73

8. I called Britt smart because he is a critical thinker who is not blinded by ideology. He is able to rationally look at the job Bush and McCain, being Republicans, have done in the past eight years and concluded that it is time to change course.
9. Finally, you did not answer what your standard would be to judge Bush as a bad President. What is his legacy? Where has he left the country? Do not say Bush kept us safe because he was President on 9/11. You can say he kept us safe AFTER the worst attack on American soil.
